Last week, I discussed heated dildos, which can make a hot summer even hotter. But when the heat’s too much, you need to cool down with an ice dildo.
Yes, ice dildos are also a thing. I’m not talking about grabbing an icicle and having fun with it, either. That’s a little too cold (though no judging.)

Ice dildos can be a cool way to get off. You may put your other sex toys on ice or give them the cold shoulder.
Okay, I’m starting to sound like Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze. I need to chill with these puns.
This post will look at what an ice dildo is, how to make one, and what safety precautions you need to follow.
So, without further ado, let’s slide into it. Okay, the ice puns are over now. (They won’t be over.)

What Are the Benefits of An Ice Dildo?
Have you ever filled a bag with ice because you’re swollen? Now, imagine you filled up a dildo-shaped ice bag and played with it.
Some of my readers may shudder at this, while others are shaking in a good way. Temperature play is a popular way to get off.
When you feel a sudden cold, it can shock your nerves, making the sensations you feel even better.

Another benefit is that if you’re swelling, an ice dildo can double as a way to relieve pain and reduce swelling.
While you’re probably not all swollen up down there (at least I hope not!), you can put it on the problematic part after you’re done.
Ice dildos are something that you make, by the way. There are heating dildos available, but there’s yet to be a dildo that can chill itself with the press of a button.
That being said, you can buy glass and metal dildos, put them in the fridge, and they’ll be very cold. Some glass dildos even have an icicle design to immerse yourself further!
Another benefit of ice dildos is that they’re cheap to make. Everyone has a freezer, and everyone should already have the materials to make one in their homes.
And if you don’t, they’re cheap to buy. In an age where everything feels so damn expensive, it’s glad to know there’s something affordable.
How Does an Ice Dildo Feel?
Well, cold would be your first answer, and this is true. If you enjoy temperature play and like the sudden feeling of cold on your body, then you’ll be in heaven.
Your nerves will be frozen over, but that won’t mean they won’t deliver immense orgasms. But there’s more to it than that.

Ice dildos also feel very wet, as the ice will soon melt. Then, there’s the alternation between cold and heat.
If you have a partner, they may use the toy on you for a bit, then put their fingers or penis in you. When you switch from cold to warm body heat, it can feel shocking in the best way possible.
The dildo is going to feel a little subjective. Some people I know love temperature play. They can’t live without it.
They’re not like Elsa, where the cold never bothered her. They’re getting hot and bothered by it! However, your mileage may vary, and it’s an acquired taste.
But the good thing is that if you don’t like it, it’s made from household goods. And you can let nature take over and melt the dildo into a puddle.
How to Make an Ice Dildo
With that said, how do you create an ice dildo? It’s not challenging; let me walk you through it step by step.
Supplies
The best thing about this project is that all of your supplies will be objects you should already have in your home. Or if not, any store will have them. What you need is:
- A condom. Any brand or size will work, but spermicide condoms may create texture issues.
- A thin cardboard tube. Think of cardboard tubes you’ll find from wrapping paper, paper towels, or toilet paper.
- Tape. Regular Scotch tape will work.
- Water. Tap water works fine, but if you’re picky about what water you use, I’m no judge.
- Hot glue gun (Optional): This is good for creating textures—more about that in a later section.
1st First Step to Make an Ice Dildo

The first step is simple: fill ‘er up! Place the condom under a running faucet and fill it up until it looks like a water balloon.
Tie the end to keep the water inside. Jiggle the balloon a bit to ensure the water is snug inside.
2nd Step to Make an Ice Dildo
Take some scissors and cut a vertical line down your cardboard roll. Afterward, place the water balloon inside the opened tube and close it.

You can adjust the water’s flow to make a more dildo-like shape. I like to get a bunch of water at the base to make it look like a big pair of balls.
You can also use mini rolls to form a shape like kegel balls. Remember, these condoms are designed to take a lot of damage, so feel free to do a little experimentation.
Once you’ve got the ideal shape, tape the toilet paper roll. You may want to use several pieces to ensure it’s secure.
3rd Step to Make an Ice Dildo

Now, the simplest step. Place your little DIY art project in a freezer and freeze for 24 hours or until the dildo feels completely frozen.
However, I always recommend more time rather than less. Even if the dildo feels solid, there may be some unfrozen water inside, leading to less playtime.
4th Step to Make an Ice DIldo
Finally, take the dildo out of the freezer. Use scissors to remove the cardboard and condom from the frozen phallus.
Discard.
Now, you have a frozen dildo. Have fun! Before you get ready, be sure to follow the safety precautions below.
How to Make a Big Ice Dildo
With ice dildos, you can make ‘em as big as you want, provided you have the right materials. One good idea is to use a soda bottle.
All you need to do is cut off its bottom, turn it upside down, and use duct tape to cover up any rough edges.

Using a filled Magnum condom, stretch the condom over its opening and freeze. Once done, cut open the bottle, and the dildo should come sliding out.
Even if you’re not someone who likes it big, bigger ice dildos may be up your alley.
This is because an ice dildo can numb your nerves, leading to you wanting more inside you to feel pleasure.
How to Add Texture to An Ice Dildo
You may think that ice means there won’t be any texture, but you’re wrong. There are several creative ways to add texture to your iced dildo, such as:
The Ribbed for Your Pleasure Method
This method is pretty simple. Just use a ribbed condom and follow the same instructions. The dildo should come out with a ribbed texture.
Glue Things to the Cardboard
You can glue textures to the inside of your cardboard tube, which will add texture. Notebook covers and pipe cleaners are good options. Be sure to have a hot glue gun or other adhesive.
For this one, I used a notebook cover and pipe cleaners, which I glued to the cardboard using a hot glue gun – and a Magnum condom.
Although the photo doesn’t pick up the texture, the dildo came out with deep ridges around it.
Freeze a Glass Dildo
An easier, albeit less wet, method is to take a glass dildo or metal dildo with texture on it and freeze it for a few hours.
This method isn’t a true ice dildo; just a cold one. But I feel that it’s worth mentioning.
Safety Precautions for Using an Ice Dildo
Look, when Mother Nature made ice, she didn’t think humans would be doing…that with it.
Ice dildos are safe as long as you know what you’re doing, but you are sticking something associated with frostbite inside of you.
Here are some safety tips.
Run Water Over It Before Use
Ever watch A Christmas Story? Why did I ask this question? Who hasn’t? Anyway, you remember that scene where Flick gets his tongue stuck on a frozen pole?

Now, imagine that happening to your most delicate parts. Ouch!
Luckily, it’s easy to prevent. Run cold water over the ice dildo before using, and if it’s stuck to you. Don’t try to pull it off!
Avoid Anal Sex
I’m not your mom; I can’t tell you where to stick that ice dildo. But if you can help it, only use the dildo for external anal stimulation.
Putting the dildo inside can lead to injury, and since you’ll feel numbed, you may not notice it until it’s too late.
Sometimes, the dildo may slip inside you, and you can’t get it out. If that happens, you don’t want to wait until it melts; go to the ER and admit your mistakes!
Don’t Do it for Too Long
As you probably know, ice can lead to frostbite and ice burns. So don’t use an ice dildo for more than 10 minutes at a time, and mix up where the dildo goes inside of you.
If things start to feel odd, take the dildo out immediately. If your partner is using a dildo on you, be sure to have a safe word ready when things get a little too hot, er, cold, for you.
Prepare for Get Wet
Last time I checked, when ice meets heat, it starts melting! No way! All jokes aside, you shouldn’t use an ice dildo in places you don’t want to get wet.
Ice dildos work best in the bath or surrounded by towels. And that’s how you make an ice dildo.
It’s a fun little DIY project that works well for BDSM or those who are curious about temperature play. I love how easy it is to make, too.
You don’t need all these fancy materials like you do with most DIY dildos, nor do you need any advanced technology besides the place you store your vegetables.
