It’s getting hot! Oh, not because summer is approaching, but because we’re talking about heated dildos and vibrators today.

These dildos come in many shapes and sizes, but have one thing in common: they get warm.

Temperature play has always been a favorite of mine. I love the shocking feeling when ice gets against my skin, but I also love the melting sensation when things heat up.

So, I wanted to explore why heated dildos are so great and give you 5 you’ll love to use. Let’s get started.

What Are The Benefits of Heated Dildos and Warming Vibrators?

Heated dildos have several perks that you’re gonna love! These perks include:

More Heat = More Pleasure

Making your body hotter, especially your most delicate regions, can create orgasm after orgasm. Just a few extra degrees can make your blood flow faster and your orgasms reach new peaks.

One of the many reasons a human touch can feel better than a sex toy is that human hands have natural body heat, while dildos tend to be at whatever temperature the room is at the time.

Don’t worry; these heated dildos have a reasonable temperature limit, so you don’t need to worry about burning yourself.

It’s all pleasure, little risk.

And It’s Relaxing

Sometimes, you just need to relax, especially when work sucks, you are having issues with your love life, or bills are stacking high.

A good masturbation session can help you unwind, and adding warmth to your sex toys can help you feel even more content.

You take a hot bath to relax, so why not a hot massage, if you get my drift?

It Feels Like a Human Touch

One reason that heated dildos are so popular is that they can feel like you’re touching a human’s hand.

We have natural body heat that can range from the late 90s to early 100s in Fahrenheit.  Meanwhile, most toys are room temperature or even colder, depending on the material.

You Don’t Need an Expensive Vibrator

While there are self-heating vibrators, you can heat up a non-battery-powered dildo in other ways.

For example, metal and glass dildos can be heated through warm water, and chilled if you want to try the other side of temperature play.

Things to Look For in a Heated Dildo

With that said, what should you look for when you choose a heated dildo? Here are some features to keep in mind when shopping.

Price

Things are getting more expensive, so we get it if you don’t want to spend over $50 on a toy.

In that case, you may want to spend some money on a glass dildo, which tends to be cheaper than metal or vibrating dildos.

Vibrators are especially expensive, as they require heating components.

Type of Area Pleasured

Heating dildos can target several areas of the body. You may find that the rabbit dildo is great for vaginal or clitoral play.

Meanwhile, there are heated dildos designed exclusively for anal play.

Waterproof Levels

You may want to increase the heat by enjoying a heated dildo in a hot bath. If so, you want to ensure the bath won’t ruin your dildo.

If the dildo is glass or stainless steel and doesn’t have electrical components, then you’re in good hands.

In fact, hot water can enhance your experience.

But if you’re getting a vibrator, you want to make sure it’s IPX7 or higher, which means you can submerge it in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

Rechargeable

Heating vibrators can drain batteries, so you want to ensure that the battery is rechargeable and has decent battery life. A heated vibrator can usually last up to an hour.

Controls

A heated vibrator should have intuitive controls so you can change not only its vibration patterns and speeds but also its temperature.

The controls can be embedded in the toy itself, a remote, or even through app control.

There’s no wrong option, but the more freedom the controls give you, the more ideal.

How Hot Does it Get?

Heating dildos will usually go up to 104 degrees F, or 40 C. This temperature is accurate for natural body heat.

However, less expensive toys may have lower body heat, while others can get hotter. With glass and metal toys, you can heat them a lot, depending on what you use.

Just be sure that the toy isn’t too hot.

Good Materials

Most heating dildos are made from glass, metal, or silicone. All have pros and cons; for example, glass and metal can heat up and cool down quickly, while body-safe silicone is more bendable.

That said, you should avoid dildos made from PVC or plastic.

These materials can be porous, meaning they absorb bacteria, and heating dildos doesn’t get hot enough to kill the bacteria.

Glass or Metal Dildo?

When it comes to non-vibrating dildos, you can choose between glass or metal.

Both have similarities, mainly that they are rigid, slick, and are compatible with any type of lube.

Stainless steel dildos can be a little more expensive, but are much more durable.

Glass dildos can be more aesthetically pleasing. The dildos usually come in unique shapes, colors, and can have textures as well. However, they can be ruined by dropping them hard enough.

Glass dildos also have more ways to heat them, mainly the microwave, which is unsafe for metal dildos. Still, I wouldn’t recommend heating them that way. (More on that later.)

Metal dildos usually weigh more than glass ones. Some people will like the weightiness of metal dildos.

However, if you’re a frequent traveler and your dildo is your flying buddy, you may go with glass. Just be sure to pack it snugly so it doesn’t break!

I should mention that glass dildos, when undamaged, can handle anything you give them sex-wise. Just avoid them should you see a chip or breakage on the toy.

The last thing you want is an ER trip! I have had no issue using glass dildos over the years. But if you are a little fearful, you may want to go with metal dildos.

1. Lovehoney Heat Wave – Best Overall

The first toy on this list has it all. It’s a warming vibrator, meaning that you don’t need hot water to heat it up. However, the vibrator is fully waterproof, so you can take a hot bath with it!

The vibrator has a rabbit attachment that can warm your clit and feel amazing doing so. Besides getting you hot, the toy has nine vibration modes and three speeds.

So, while the vibrator doesn’t have a Lovense number of settings, it’s enough for most people.

A few reviewers complained that the vibrator was too intense or not hot enough. I’m satisfied with how the toy operates. My biggest complaint is that the battery life is too short.

Theoretically, you get up to an hour of playtime, but if you prefer an intense experience, you get half. God help you if you forget to charge!

Pros

  • Intense vibrations and heat.
  • Waterproof and battery rechargeable.
  • Not too shabby of a price for everything it does.

Cons

  • It could have better battery life.

2. Satisfyer Hot Lover – Best App-Controlled Vibrator

This dildo looks a bit like a curling iron, but don’t let that fool you! The Hot Lover is a rabbit favorite that can get hot, up to 104°F (40°C). Hot as a human lover without burning you.

The material is also nice, a blend of metal and silicone. You can also control the toy via a control panel built into it or through the Satisfyer Connect App.

While this app doesn’t have as many features as, say, Lovense, it’s still pretty good!

The toy also comes with other cool perks, like a 15-year guarantee and IPX7 waterproof. If I had one complaint, it’s that the toy is a little on the smaller end, with 4.5 insertable inches.

But that’s satisfying enough for me!

Also, I want to say that this show is currently unavailable on SheVibe, but it’s available through other stores if you look hard enough.

But if you’re a SheVibe loyalist, stay tuned for possible restocks.

Pros

  • It looks pretty.
  • Can connect via an app.
  • Waterproof and USB-rechargeable.

Cons

  • The Virbator is a bit short.

3. Heating Ass Thruster – Best Anal Vibrator

Rabbit vibrators are great if you have a vagina, but what if you don’t? Or what if you like anal play?

The Anal Fantasy Elite Thruster is what you need.

This thruster goes up to body temperature and can hit your ass in the right places. It also has seven patterns to pick from, which is always fun.

The only complaint is that this product is a little expensive compared to the first two, but it’s an anal thruster that heats up. What do you expect?

If it were under $50, I’d be a little suspicious of it.

Pros

  • Anal action!
  • The thrusting motion has several amazing settings.
  • Quite sturdy.

Cons

  • It’s pricey.

4. Lovehoney Sweet Heat Travel Thrusting Warming Sex Machine – Best Thrusting Dildo for Vagina

Now, let’s look at a thrusting dildo for your vagina. This thruster has a suction cup on it, making it great for floor or wall play.

The dildo has a rippled texture as well, which will hit your spots perfectly. Oh, and it’s remote-controlled and rechargeable.

My only complaint is that the toy is not waterproof, so do not use it in the shower!

Pros

  • Several speeds and settings.
  • The suction cup is powerful.
  • Remote-controlled.

Cons

  • Not waterproof.

5. Lovehoney Sensual Glass Double-Ended G-Spot Dildo – Best Glass Dildo

Finally, let’s look at a non-vibrating dildo. Glass is perhaps the best material if you want a toy that doesn’t vibrate.

Also, if you want to adjust the toy’s temperature, you simply use warm water.

Glass toys are designed to withstand high levels of heat, so get them as hot or as cold as you want them to be.

This glass dildo is a great starting point because it’s affordable and has a double-ended shape if you want to play with a partner. However, it’s perfect solo as well.

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Easy to heat up.
  • Great for solo or with partners.

Cons

  • No vibration.

Staying Safe While Using Heated Dildos and Vibrators

Before we go, I wanted to discuss safety. Heated vibrators go to body-safe temperature limits, but when it comes to metal and glass dildos, don’t heat them too high.

I recommend warm water first, and then heat things up according to your own comfort.

The most important rule of heated, or any, dildo is that you go according to your own comfort. If you start feeling uncomfortable or in pain, stop.

You should never feel that way when you use these toys.

One way to ensure that the dildo is the right temperature is to heat it with water that you’re used to taking a bath in.

And with a self-heating vibrator, you may want to adjust the temperature settings.

If a vibrator isn’t waterproof, don’t risk it in a bath. Even if you’re careful not to get it into the water, you may ruin the toy at best and shock yourself at worst.

Also, clean the dildo after every use to avoid getting something nasty. Some soap and water should do the trick, or an antibacterial toy cleaner.

Finally, you should never heat your dildo using a microwave. They can heat dildos unevenly, leading to inconsistent temperatures.

One side may be warm, the other scalding. And never heat a metal dildo in the microwave unless you want a fireworks show.
