Is Tantus Legit? Are They Safe To Buy From? [A Review]

Last Updated on May 6, 2025 by Kelly

This week, I’m giving yet another in-depth look at a site I frequently discuss, Tantus.

Unlike the other sites, which do have a sexual name, Tantus almost sounds like a technology firm, probably because there’s also a company named Tantus that does just that.

I’m going to look at the company’s history, determine if they’re legitimate, and, most importantly, do they offer good deals? So, let’s first ask the question:

Let’s get into it.

What is Tantus, and Are They Legit?

Out of the stores I’ve written about so far, Tantus is actually the oldest, having been founded in 1998. (Though the oldest traces of their website I could find were in 2006.)

1998 was a time of dial-up Internet and spending a solid 10 minutes to download a fuzzy nudie.

It was also a time when, if you wanted to buy a sex toy, you had to go to a seedy shop off the interstate.

Not to knock those stores; they’ve come in clutch a few times. But some of the products they sell there are a little dated.

And you don’t know what you’re putting in your body when you use them! Tantus marketed itself as selling toys only made from the safest silicone.

At the ANME 2000 trade show, Tantus introduced silicone toys to the mainstream world.

Yes, silicone being used for sex toys is newer than you think.

By the way, do you know what Tantus means? It’s Latin for “so much of,” or “so large.” So the lewd name is hidden in plain sight!

Who Are The Owners of Tantus?

Tantus was co-founded by Kris Victor and Metis Black. However, I found a 2020 article that revealed the CEO is Mike Blacksmith.

It does appear that Metis has retired, as seen in her LinkedIn profile. I couldn’t find much about Kris Victor.

From his pictures, Mike Blacksmith seems like a fun guy. In one picture, he’s dressed like a leather daddy with a dapper mustache, but his LinkedIn picture shows that he likes some crawfishing.

I’d hang out with him for a day.

I suppose it doesn’t matter too much to the casual shopper who the owners are, but it’s always nice to know who your money is going to if you’re going to commit.

Does Tantus Sell Quality Sex Toys?

Yes. Tantus was the first to put quality into sex toys. The adult toy industry was, and still is to some extent, the Wild West, and Tantus introduced body-safe silicone to the world.

They normalized the idea that sex toys shouldn’t be considered dirty, but instead, treating your body right and not putting anything gross in it.

Tantus markets itself with its 100% ultra-premium silicone. Their toys are non-toxic, bacteria-resistant, and hypoallergenic.

Phthalates? Forget those! And yes, you can boil them and put them in the dishwasher.

What I also love about them is that every toy you see is from their own product line. They don’t really sell many third-party toys.

After all, they are the originators of silicone toys, and they want to remind you that they’re still number one.

Pricing and Value for the Money: Are The Prices Fair?

I looked around, and Tantus has some fair prices. Now, all of their toys are made from premium silicone, so finding something under $20 is a bit challenging unless it’s on sale.

But the prices are worth it. You’re paying for something that will treat your body right.

It’s a mid-range store, in my opinion. They offer some more expensive products for over $100, but most of their items fall within the $50 range.

So yeah, I think their prices are fair, but some readers may be on a tight budget. Don’t worry. They have discounts!

Does Tantus Have Discounts?

Of course! Like most sex toy shops, Tantus regularly has sales, promo codes, and a newsletter you can subscribe to for the latest deals.

There is a “Deals” tab that informs you about the available bundles, whether they are offering any grab bags, and, of course, which products are on sale.

And generally, their sales are good.

Many products are on sale for half off. On the front page, they have their Pop line, a series of squirting dildos, for up to 70% off.

Now, that’s what I’m talking about! Many websites believe that 10% off is a significant sale. You just saved me the tax I would have paid! Better than nothing, but not a real discount.

Like most shops, Tantus also offers free shipping to US customers for orders exceeding a minimum amount.

However, unlike its deals, the shipping minimum is a little less generous. The minimum is $100. Other sites have it much less, which is disappointing.

But with that said, it’s pretty easy to splurge a little and get $100 worth of toys.

Payment Method – Returns & Refunds At Tantus

First, let’s talk about payment methods. I love a site that gives a girl options. Sometimes, offering only a debit or credit card as a payment method doesn’t suffice.

Payday is next week, and I don’t wanna accumulate more debt. Sites that give you flexible payment options are a godsend.

Currently, Tantus accepts major debit and credit cards, PayPal, and Venmo. The payment options are a little less than those of other sites I’ve mentioned, but they offer PayPal, so I’m satisfied.

PayPal offers a ‘Pay in 4’ option that I love, making you feel less guilty when they break down a $100 order into four biweekly payments of $25.

Now, let’s talk about their return policy. Most adult stores I’ve reviewed have an “All sales final” policy due to the adult nature of their products, even if the product is unused and unopened.

Lovehoney appears to be the only site that offers a generous option to receive a refund if you’re not satisfied. So, how does Tantus compare?

Sadly, it’s another case of “given the intimate nature of the product,” they can’t offer a refund.

It’s understandable, as these are adult products, but I keep thinking that Lovehoney will provide a one-time refund if you’re not satisfied with a product.

That said, Lovehoney is a much larger website, so they probably have the resources to offer an olive branch to an angry customer that Tantus may not be able to provide.

So yes, be sure the toy you’re ordering is something you’re going to use and is a good fit for you, if you know what I mean.

Read the dimensions, customer reviews, and examine the product photos carefully to determine if it’s a good fit for you.

That said, they do offer a 60-day replacement policy for defective toys, which is a nice benefit.

They even have a lifetime warranty. Tantus silicone is so sturdy that if it were to break, you can have it replaced for free.

Does Tantus Have Discreet Packaging?

The last thing you want is to order a giant vibrator, only for your roommate or next-door neighbor to see it standing on your doorstep.

Luckily, most adult stores offer discreet packaging, typically in a plain brown box or envelope with a vague sender’s name.

Tantus is the same way. Their packages look boring and plain, like you’re ordering office supplies.

If you order internationally, there is a bit less discretion. You may see a packing slip that indicates you’ve ordered from Tantus and provides a general description of the items.

So, if you are ordering internationally, be aware. I’d search in the box to make sure that you didn’t leave anything behind before throwing it in the recycling bin.

So yes, Tantus is discreet.

Luckily, my living situation is such that I don’t need to worry about this, even if Tantus did ship it in a package with their branding on it..

And even if the neighbor sees what I ordered, that’s none of their business.

However, some individuals in a toxic living situation may need to be cautious about what they order and who sees it.

Does Tantus Have Discreet Billing?

Besides shipping, you don’t want to open your banking statements and see you got a $120 charge from Tantus for dildos and butt plugs!

Luckily, Tantus is also discreet about this.

Your billing account will show it as TNTSINC. Almost feels like you’re ordering TNT, but there’s going to be an explosion somewhere else, if you get my drift.

That said, it can depend on your payment method.

Generally, Tantus orders will be discreet, but your experience may vary depending on whether you use PayPal or your bank’s system.

Customer Experiences and Reviews

It’s a little hard to determine the overall customer experience of Tantus using sites like TrustPilot alone.

Tantus has an unclaimed page that features one 5-star review praising its shipping and product quality.

Also, despite there being one 5-star review, the average score is 3.7. Make that make sense.

However, we can also look at customer reviews for more insight. Tantus’s site features reviews for each product, and their Amazon page also provides insight into what people think of their products.

For example, one of their silk dildos has 383 reviews, averaging 4.4 stars. The reviews praise the dildo for its quality materials and flawless design.

Of course, not all products will be winners. One uncut dildo has an average of 3 stars. However, the reviews are negative for silly reasons.

One person said the product is too expensive, which I understand, as things are costly. But another said the dildo was too large.

Like, the dimensions are right there! But I get it. Some folk think they have a porn star’s hole, but then they end up biting off more than they can chew.

So, yes, Tantus is overall a positively reviewed company. But with each product, your mileage may vary.
