How to Charge Lovense Toys: Charging Guide & Battery Tips
Ah, rechargeable batteries. They liberated us from the horrors of needing an AA when you only have AAA (or vice versa) and having to take batteries from your remote.
Because no one has time to go to the store. The same applies to your vibrators.
Unless you’re buying a super cheap sex toy, most of them will use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. So if you want to get off, but your battery is low, you just need to plug in for an hour.

But with this new world comes another annoyance: keeping track of chargers.
While there’s sort of a standard with USB-C, not every device uses that. Lovense is a good example, having a unique charger.
Let’s discuss that, and other aspects of charging a sex toy.
What Type of Charger Should You Use for a Lovense Toy?
It ultimately depends on the toy you have. Older toys tend to use a plug-in USB charger, while modern Lovense toys use a magnetic charger.
Plug-In

This type of charger, also known as a barrel charger, involves sticking a pointed plug into a hole (heheh) on your Lovense toy.
Then, you plug your USB into your computer, adapter, or any other port that will give it power.
Plug-in chargers are convenient, offering more security than their magnetic chargers. However, most newer Lovense products don’t have these.
Why? Well, a couple of reasons.
Magnetic

This type of USB charger is for toys that have two magnets on them. The charger also has two magnets, and you snap them to your toy’s magnets.
Magnetic charging is the standard for several reasons. First, there are no openings that dust and fluids can enter.
Not only that, but you don’t need to worry about wear and tear from plugging in toys.
That being said, magnetic chargers are infamous for not staying on if you don’t angle them correctly.
However, modern toys have gotten better about this.
Obviously, what charger the toy supports will be the only charger you can use. Unless you’re a tech wiz, you’re not going to convert a plug-in to a magnetic, or vice-versa.
How Long Does it Typically Take to Charge a Lovense Toy?
Boring answer, I know, but it all depends. The more powerful the toy is, the longer it may take to charge.
It also depends on how new the toy is. Recent toys have utilized super-fast charging technology.
For example, the Lush 4 can give you up to an hour of play time in just five minutes. To charge the Lush 4 fully, it takes only 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, the older model, the Lush 2, takes nearly double that time. To know how long it will take for your specific toy, check the box, manual, or product listing.
Please note that the time may differ depending on what brand of charger you have and if it’s plugged in properly.
How Do You Know When a Lovense Toy is Fully Charged?
Most Lovense toys have a handy, dandy light that blinks or stays on, and when the light goes out, the device is fully charged
Alternatively, the light may change from red to green. Or from blinking to solid. One way to know for sure is to connect the toy to the Lovense Remote app.
There, you should see its battery life.
How Often Should I Charge My Lovense Toy to Maintain Battery Health?

You know the phrase “Use it or lose it?” This applies to batteries. If you keep the toys idle, they will slowly lose their charge over time.
And if the battery life dies, it can be brought back to life. However, its capacity may take a hit. Granted, some Lovense toys you may use more than others.
For example, maybe you have to be in a certain mood for anal. It happens. That being said, you should charge your toys at least once every six months.
Doing this will ensure the battery lasts a long time.
Is It Safe to Leave a Lovense Toy Charging Overnight?
Okay, it’s very unlikely your toy will burst into flames, and many modern Lovense toys have features that stop charging once full.
However, many toys and rechargeable devices pose a fire risk if left charging overnight.
A good rule of thumb is to charge the toy to its maximum capacity, then unplug. Messing up now and then isn’t gonna be the end of the world, but too much may spell the end of your toy.
Can You Use a Lovense Toy While Charging?

You really want to use your Lovense toy, but the battery is dead. Can’t you just plug it in and use it as it’s charging?
Sadly, not. Most modern Lovense toys don’t let you use the toy while it’s charging.
Besides posing a risk for shock, the toy doing both could cause the toy to overheat.
Modern Lovense toys do have super-fast charging, which gives you a decent battery life in minutes.
How to Care for Your Lovense Toy’s Battery
Lovense toys are pricey, and the battery isn’t removable. Therefore, you don’t want the battery to die completely.
Of course, all toys will break down eventually. So is life. But there are some ways to extend the battery life as much as possible.
Charge it Frequently (But Not Too Much)
I already mentioned this earlier, but it bears repeating. You should charge your toys frequently. If you aren’t using your toys a lot, do a tune-up every six months or so.
That being said, don’t charge the toys too much. Never keep your toys charged overnight. Even if the toy stops charging itself after a certain percentage, it’s not worth the risk.
Avoid Draining the Battery Fully
Don’t wait until the battery life hits 0% to charge it! Doing this can lead to a lesser overall charge.
You want your recharges to be shorter, not longer. Occasionally draining your battery will not cause too much concern, but avoid making it a habit.
Use Authorized Chargers
Ideally, you should use the charger that comes with the toy. If your charger breaks or you lose it, it may be tempting to get one from Amazon.
But the one you get may not have the right voltage, or may have another issue. Lovense does sell replacement chargers, so buy from there.
Clean the Contacts
Every so often, you should clean the metal contacts located on the charger and the toy. Use a cotton swab with a bit of rubbing alcohol.
Be sure the toy is turned off and the charger unplugged, before doing this.
Storage Tips
Ideally, you should store your toys in a cool, dry place. Don’t put them in the storage shed that has no AC during summer, or vice versa.
Also, while storing, the toys should be stored at about 60% charge. Don’t keep them charged fully, nor keep them completely dead.
What Safety Precautions Should I Follow When Charging Lovense Devices?
It’s charging a sex toy, not jumpstarting a car battery on a rainy night. Still, there are definitely some precautions you should take when charging.
Use the Original Cable
We mentioned this already, but you know the rest. Those Amazon charging cables can be cheap, but they may damage your toy, or at worst, start a fire.
If you lose your charger, there are official replacements.
Check Your Cables Every Now and Then
Lovense makes some sturdy cables, but they can still be subject to tears and frays. If you notice any tears, don’t take the risk. Replace them immediately.
Avoid Putting Liquids Nearby
You put your charging toy on a shelf and lay a glass of water nearby, and then your cat decides to jump on the shelf and knock the water over.
Don’t let that happen. Keep all liquids far away from your toy. While most of Lovense’s toys tend to be waterproof, charging is a different story.
Put the Toy on a Flat Surface
This will prevent the toy from overheating and also ensure the magnetic cable doesn’t come loose.
Ideally, you’ll also want the toy far away from the edge.
Charge in a Cool, Dry Place
Obviously, you’ll likely be charging the toy in the comfort of your bedroom, but we felt this should have been mentioned anyway.
Unplug if Something Seems Funny
If your toy feels unusually hot, you smell burning, or you start seeing sparks, unplug immediately.
Granted, this is very rare. But it’s still worth mentioning.
Troubleshooting if Your Lovense Toy Won’t Charge
You plug in your toy, and nothing. What is going on? Here are some tips.
Try Another Cable
If you have a similar cable, try using that. Oftentimes, it’s the simple case of the charger no longer working.
A hassle, sure, but it’s a cheap replacement.
Try Another Port
It could be that your computer’s USB is fried, or that the USB AC adapter is broken. Or hell, the AC plug itself is having issues.
Sometimes, technology likes to break down simultaneously, and both the cable and port may be having issues.
Clean the Charger and Toy
It may be that the metal charging prongs need some cleaning. As mentioned, use a bit of alcohol and a cotton swab.
Let it dry, then try again. If there was a buildup of gunk, that may be the culprit.
Ensure the Charger is On Completely
Those magnetic chargers can be a hassle. If the prongs are a little off, the toy may not charge.
Ensure that they are aligned completely. Often, I have found that the problem is that the magnetic prongs are slightly misaligned.

Look for the Light
Lovense toys tend to have a light that will tell you if it’s charging. This is usually indicated by a blinking light or one that is solid.
Alternatively, you can view the toy on the Lovense Remote app. There, you should see if the toy is charging or not.
Contact Customer Support
If you know the cord is working, and the port, and everything is cleaned and properly aligned… then the toy may be broken.
I’m sorry to say that, but it does happen. Luckily, I have found Lovense customer service to be pretty good.
And the toys do carry a warranty. If the product is still under warranty, then they will send you a new toy. If not, well, you may need to buy a new one.
Taking a Lovense toy to the Geek Squad may be a little… awkward.
And that’s all there is to know about Lovense chargers. Simple? Yes. But honestly, most people don’t know how to maintain good battery life.
So I hope that something in this article helped.
